6-Month Progression with Activities – Your Next Chapter

Connection – Meet & Ways of Working 

Theme: Laying our Foundation.

Activities: - Voice in the Room – One thing to know about you and what do you hope to gain from “Your Next Chapter”

- Welcome and Framing – Set up the program and journey together.

- Positive Introduction Exercise – One Page written “Positive Introduction” to introduce yourself in a positive way to the group.

- Ways of Working (WOW) – Co-create together, anchor down into the basics (Confidentiality, Respect, Authentic Listening, Participation, Powerful Questions, Empathy).

Outcome: Learn about each other, create a safe and trusted space.


Month 1 – Identity & Values

Theme: Discover the great person you’ve become, who are you now?

Activities: - Values Exercise- Pick top 5 values → rank & discuss.

- Identity Mapping - Write down 5 labels you've lived by (e.g., Partner, Parent,

- Leader) → create new labels for this chapter.

- Life Peaks & Valleys Timeline - Draw your career/life highs and lows; highlight

lessons & patterns. Outcome: A clarified personal compass (values + identity beyond “work role”).


Month 2 – Purpose & Vision

Theme: Anchoring in purpose and possibility.

Activities: - Purpose Statement Draft - Use prompts like: "I exist to..." or "The impact I want

to make is..."

- Vision Board (Analog or Digital) - Cut out images/words or use Canva/MIRO.

Share with cohort.

- Sage Letter - Write a letter from your 75-year-old self about what mattered

most.

Outcome: A vision that feels energizing, not just “realistic.”


Month 3 – Strengths, Wisdom & Legacy

Theme: Harvesting the wisdom you’ve created.

Activities: - Strengths Storytelling – Share a 10-min story about a time you were at your best. Group reflects themes.

- Wisdom Harvest Grid – List biggest lessons from career → how they might apply elsewhere. Leverage your Peaks & Valleys exercise.

- Legacy Reflection – Write your “impact paragraph”: what you’d want people to say about your contribution.

Outcome: Clearer sense of what you already must bring into your next chapter.


Month 4 – Experiments & Courage

Theme: We don’t “THINK” our way into something new, we “DO” our way into something new.

Activities:

- Experiment Brainstorm – List 10 small bets (shadowing, coffee chats, volunteering, taking a course, side projects).

- Courage Ladder – Pick 1 scary-but-exciting thing → break it into 3 small steps.

- Action Accountability – Each participant commits to 1 experiment before next session. Outcome: First set of “safe-to-fail” experiments in motion.


Month 5 – Community & Contribution

Theme: Build your next tribe.

Activities: - Network Map - Draw concentric circles (close, mid, distant contacts). Identify 3

to reconnect with.

- Contribution Brainstorm - Where do you want to give back? Mentoring,

volunteering, board work, coaching?

- Tribe Finding - Research 1 new group/community to join (alumni, nonprofit,

sports, interest-based).

Outcome: New connections and contribution pathways identified.


Month 6 – Happiness & Best Life Design

Theme: Design the life you’d be proud to live.

Activities: - Perfect Week Design - Map your ideal weekly rhythm (work, play, health,

connection). Compare to current.

- Best Life Blueprint - Draft your personal "Next Chapter Map" (purpose, values,

key goals, experiments, community).

- Closing Ceremony - Group sharing: "My Next Chapter begins with..." (one

sentence commitments).

Outcome: A living plan + accountability structure to carry forward.
